Nettle Liquid Plant Feed

Nettles are a valuable, well balanced fertiliser when used as a liquid feed. Nettles gathered in the spring have the highest mineral content.

Method

Pack fresh nettles into a bucket or other suitable container. Fill with water and cover. Use roughly 2 lbs of fresh nettles to 2 gallons of water. Leave for two weeks, stir occasionally. Anaerobic bacteria will set to work and produce a strong, unpleasant smell.

Strain the end result. Use one part nettle juice diluted with 10 parts water to feed a wide variety of plants. It is not, however, the most sweet smelling feed you could desire!

The residue of nettle remains can be added to the compost heap.
